MARGUERITE COSTIGAN'S OPEN STUDIO SHOW 2008
You are invited to my 2008 Open Studio Show, part of the Open Studio Tour sponsored annually by ArtsObispo (the San Luis Obispo County Arts Council).
My studio will be open on Saturday and Sunday, October 18th and 19th, 2008, from 10 am to 5 pm both days.
I’m located at 3960 South Higuera Street, Space #49 in San Luis Obispo, California. (I’m in Creekside Park, at the intersection of Tank Farm and South Higuera Streets.)
This year’s show will feature several sub-sets of my wide-ranging artwork, including watercolors, monotypes and other hand-pulled prints, alkyds (fast-drying oils), drawings, and portfolio works, as well as my recently very successful VARNISHED WATERCOLORS.
As usual, my open studio will include liquid and munchable refreshments. This year we’ll feature a special SUNDAY AFTERNOON poetry reading from a just-published book, Poems For Endangered Places, with illustrations by myself.
For more information, call me at (805) 541-0492 or contact ArtsObispo at (805) 544-9251. (Studio Tour catalogs are available from ArtsObispo.)
Artist’s Statement ~ “I don’t really paint what I SEE – I paint my visceral and emotional RESPONSES to what I see. My paintings involve memory, experience, and a willingness to be open and vulnerable to new or difficult things. How else can you learn? How else can you keep on growing?”
